HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
MISS ADA REEVE AND COMPANY. The programme to bo presented next Wednesday evening, by the company of vaudeville artist9 J headed by the celebrated London comedienne Ada Reeve is said to more than justify the high reputation of the Harry Rickards management, and to afford a delightful entertainment. Of Miss Ada Reeve herself, all that can be said has_ been said, yet nothing that has' been said in any way exaggerates her charms and talents. For upwards of threequarters of an hour she is said to hold her audience captive, one moment convulsing them with irrepressible laughter by her droll and piquant humor) and the ne'xt reducing them- to sympathetic silence by something bordering on the pathetic. Time after time in Auckland and Wellingon recently she endeavored to make her escape from the stage, but it was only after she had responded to several recalls, and had capped. her latest “ comic ” by tho sweet and_ plaintive.melody of 'The Long, Long Trail,’ that she was permitted to toss her farewell kisses to her. cheering patrons, and, flower-laden, make her triumphant exit. The high standard set by the star of the evening is. stated to be reflected in her associate artists, every “ turn ” bein'* of its kind conspicuously clever and artist tic. Miss Lucie Linda (a dainty and graceful juvenile danseuse), Alvin and Williams (vocol fun-makers), the clever quartet comprising the ■ English Comedy Company, Louis Nikola (styled “ the man of mystery ’’), Frank Markley (whose genius finds expression in the banjo), and Kennedy Allen (burlesque comedian) are said to constitute a combination which it would be difficult to excel on any vaudeville stage in the Empire. The pleasure afforded by this company is materially enhanced by the pleasing music Of the Tivoli Orchestra, under the ; direction of Mr Harry . Jacobs, the singing conductor. The box plans for tho five nights’ season will open at the Bristol Piano Company on Monday inorning next.
