An earthquake and tidal wave—the most severe on record—haye been experienced m theSamoan' Group. The Friendly Group experienced an earthquake. * At Hapai thero were three waves 14ft high, but no material damage was done. Keppel Island fared the worst. Many native houses were destroyed, and a concrete wharf.was carried, away, but there were no fatalities. The shock was not felt at Niuafoo.
