HORSE RACING ENCOURAGED

LONDON, July 4. The War Cabinet has decided to allow limited racing, in view of the national importance of horse-breeding, and suggests to the stewards of the Jockey Club that they v should arrange approximately 40 days* racing betw&n the middle of* July and the close of the flat racing season at Newmarket and‘elsewhere, subject to the approval of the War Office, the Ministries Munitions, and the Board of Trade. The railways are not to provide special trains, and steps must be taken to prevent motor cars or taxi-cabs carrying racegoers. If these stipulations are ignored, licenses will be' withdrawn. It was also decided to allow a maximum of 1,200 horses in training, these to consume not more than 151b of oats per head daily.
