ANGLICAN MEMORIAL HOME FOR BUYS

'■ 9 The question of establishing a home for boys has been discussed on many occasions in the Anglican Synod. There is aiready an excellent institution for giiii in St. Mary's Orphanage at Mornington, bi-t it has been so far found impossible to provido for boys. At the last gathering of the Diocesan Syncd, however, a committee which had been set up to consider the question laid clown in their report th.;.t tiie members considered that the time was ripe for some definite movement in the matter. Accordingly, Synod decided that a homo for boys should be established as soon as possiblo, and empowered the committee to cany the matter through, pledging the support of the diocese. The committee have l>een strengthened by the inclusion of a number of business men, and now consists of the following:—Tlio Revs. J. L. Mortimer (chairman) and V. G. B. King, Messrs J. Skottowe Webb (hon. secretary), F. .0. Bridgoman (hon. treasurer), L. D. Ritchie, S. Dunklcy, D. M. Spedding, R. B. Williams, A. A. Finch) B. E. Macassey, and Dr Williams. It has been decided to take immediate steps to acquire a suitable property, of which are under consideration, and to secure the services of an organising secretary, who will make a personal a°ppeal throughout_the dioceso.. It is proposed to make this home a diocesan war memorial, and it is thought likely that many who desire t'o commemorate some dear one who has fallen, or give a. thank offering for some great mercy, will gladly take this opportunity which is afforded them. Without doubt the war will add very greatly to the responsibility of the Church, and it is considered incumbent upon all Church pooplo to see vthat adequate support is given to this most deserving object.
