REMEMBER THE WIDOWS AND ORPHANS

Tho arrangements in connection with the street collection to be taken up to-morrow forenoon by tho members of the BrandonCrenier Company aro now complete, and tho function should attract goodly gatherings of persons generously disposed, because the proceeds will bo forwarded to tho High Commissioner for distribution among tho most necessitous of the cases of hardship due to the German air raids on_ the English coast at the beginning of this month. His Worship the Mayor has given his patronage; the Bristol Piano Company have supplied the pianos required; and Mr Chas. Speight has undertaken to act as marshal. The procession, which will leave the Grand Hotel at 10.30, will travel along Princes and George streets, turn into Frederick street, make a tour of the Hospital block, return to George street, then turn into Moray placo and proceed via Stuart street down •to the railway station, whero a decorated lorry will be halted while some members of the company will speak their piece j the procession will reform and return to tho starting point, whero an impromptu concert will be held and last for half an hour or so, while tho lady collectors (all in fancy costume) will So busy among the crowd. At tho same time a third lorry will be despatched to Cargill's Corner, whero anpher entertainment will be given. Lorries for the occasion have been lent by Speight and Co., R. Hudson and Co., and the New Zealand ■ Express Company, and theso will be gaily and appropriately decorated. It is understood that two "of the City bands have- volunteered their services. Considering the trouble and exEsnso that the Brandon-Cramer Company ave been at to organise this novel enterpriseit is hoped that the public will turn out in largo numbers to give it a good send-off, and will make a liberal response to the ladies' appeals.
