LATE SHIPPING
ARRIVED,— Juno 26.
Kakapo, s.s. (3.30 p.m.), 1.521 tons, Maodonald, from.Westport and Bluff. The Kakapo arrived at Dunedin late this afternoon from Westport and Bluff, and was berthed at the Birch street wharf to disohage a part cargo of coal. The Kamona arrived at Auckland at 7 a.m to-day from Westport. After discharging her coal cargo she will return to Westport. Owing to very heavy rain at Lyttelton all work was stopped on tho waterfront to-day. The Kittawa will not now get away from the Canterbury port until Thursday for Greymcmth, in consequence of the delay. The Arahura arrived at Gisborne at 6.30 a.m. to-doy from Auckland and Tolago Bay. She will leave the Poverty Bay port to-night for Napier. The Arahura left Auckland on Saturday afternoon, and was compelled to shelter at Tolago Bay yesterday, owing to rough weather on the East Coast. THE SCHOONER HUANUI. Tho auxiliary schooner Huanui arrived at Ponlo (Kaipara Heads) at 1.30 p.m. to-day from Dunedin. The vessel cleared this port at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, Juno 15, with a full shipment of general merchandise, and has thus accomplished the distance of over 600 miles in the creditable time of exactly 13 days. J STEAMER JOHN DELAYED. A telegram received by Mr Keith Ramsay, local agent for the steamer John, states that the vessel was compelled to shop riin Queen Charlotte Sound until yesterday morning, owing to bad weather In Cook Strait. Tho John left Wellington on Saturday evening for Dunedin direct. She should arrive here to-morrow morning, and is fixed to sail tomorrow night with general cargo for Oamrau, Timaru, Wellington, and Wanganui. LATEST CONCERNING KOTARE. Owing to a shortage of shipwrights, the repairs to tho coastal steamer Kotare, at Port Chalmers, will not be completed until to-morrow. Tho vessel Will bo floated out of dock in tho morning, and will come up to Dunedin during the day to She is now fixed to sail on Thursday morning for Bluff, Invercargill,.and Riverton. The Kotare was not seriously damaged as a result of her recent mishap at Waikawa, about seven of the frames and the keelson amidships being slightly sprung. Captain D. Hanning, who has had command of the Kotare for some time past, has resigned, and Captain O. F. MTntyre, who was mate of the vessel, has taken over the command. Before joining the Kotare, Captain MTntyre had charge of the coastal steamer Jane in the West Coast trade. Mr I. MTellan, well known in tho Auckland coastal trade, hn« joined the Kotare as mate.'
