LECTURE

Mr W. F. Harding spoke last night at Smith's Hall, Hanover street, on 'The Relation of Hypnotism and Spirit Control.' The hall was full. Mr Harding acknowledged the powers of hypnotism, and held that much that spiritualists usually attributed to spirit agency w,-a explainable by hypnotism and mental telepathy, and gave some interesting incidents in support of his contention. He paid that after explaining away as much phenomena as possible by these methods there remained a lot that could bo only explained by admitting an agent distinct and more powerful than the hypnotist, ; n.l quoted several instances of liynotic subjects who passed beyond the hypnotist's control into the influence of a disembodied spirit's, and gave proof that such w:'.s the case.
