LATE SHIPPING
Tho Paloona went down to Port Chalmers this morning for overhaul and 10fitting preparatory to taking up her running in another service. The coastal steamer John, which has been held up at Wellington for several days past owing to the labor troubles,, is now expected to arrive at Dunedin on Friday. She is fixed to sail the same, day for Oamaru, Timaru, Wellington, and Wanganui.
WE AT HER FORECAST.
The Government Meteorologist (Rev. D. C. Bates) supplied the following at noon to-day : —Strong southerly winds; changeable and showery weather: glass rising tendency; tides high: sea rough swell.
At the weekly meeting of the Pioneer of Dunedin Lodge, 1.0. G.T., the major part of the evening was devoted to amusement, the principal item on the syllabus being a "mock court," Altogether a most pleasant and profitable time was spent.
