Last night's ' Star' being a nine-column paper, the runners had to fold it vcrv tight for the long throws on to verandahs. One of our men. in thus delivering the paper at a- certain house, had a peculiar experience. Just as the paper landed the owner of the house opened the door, and the 'Star' clean shavsd off his wig. The wit of the Irish" butraved itself in his comment: " Scalped, be'dad!" " How ignorant that. woman is !'' said Mrs Gausip to her caller. " She and I went to the zoo the other dav. and I thought I would laugh outright when she called the giraffe a carafe. The joke of it was the animal wasn't a gixatta at all; it was >% (Mj^niTnlp,"
