ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

Bernard John O'Connor (27), married, employed at the Keep-itrDark mhie, was killed by a fell of stone. Leonard Gibson (26), single, wa,s kicked on the head by a . 'horse at Cheviot on Saturday morning. Ho was admitted to the Uinstetarch Hospital in an unconscious condition. An operation was performed, but except for a very brief spell the injured man had not regained consciousness up to an. early hour on Monday morning. His condition was then regarded as serious. Mr Richard Deaker, tapper at the Balclutha railway yards, was the victim of an unfortunate accident on Friday afternoon. While ho was attending to his duties at the pumping engine his arm was caught m the belting on one of the wheels, with the result that he was turned round with the wheel, Jiis arm being severely crushed.
