(Received November 4, at 10.55 a.m.) During the Parliamentary Committee examination of the Rhodes Estate Bill it was explained, on behalf of tho trustees, that it proposed the abolition of German scholarships of £3OO each. The chairman stated that the committee considered these scholaxsliips wtre needed within the Empire, and preferred not to widen the- area of availability. The late Mr Cecil Rhodes often expressed, a. \vish that the Empire should come ih>l. The Bill was accordingly reported to tho House.
