ANNUAL MEETING. The annual business and social meeting of the Caversham Presbyterian Church was held in the church hall lose evening. The Rev. R. Fairriiaid (Moderator of the charge) presided over a good attendance. The Chairman, in speaking to the annual reports, said they showed that all departments of the church's work wore healthy, active, and flourishing. This was largely due to the excellent work of their late. pa,stor, the Rev. E. W. -Halford. He extended a cordial and sympathetic reception' to their new minister, Mr G. Mitchell. The report of the Kirk Session, adopted on the motion of Mr Henderson, contained she following clauses;— The membership has increased to a large extent under the able services of Mr Halford. The Session would take this opportunity of expressing their a PPf® 01E l;^ !o n of the very able ministrations of Mr Halrord during the part year. Th attendance at public worship on the Lord's J-tay has shown a milked increase, especially at the evening services. The service of praise has been well -sustained by Mr Poster and the choir, and it is gratifying, to the session to see so many of the younger members of the church engaged in this ln m? r *' P ar *' °f the church service. ' .T™ Management Committee’s report s ated that, the year commenced with a debit balance of £1 11s 5d and closed with a credit balance of £8 4s 7d. This was considered very satisfactory. It was also gratitymg to note that the ordinary collections showed the substantial increase of £37 fh Id, special collections an increase of £SB 8= 4d, pew rents an increase of 9s 9d. On th-o-her hand, the sustentation fund showed a ain f , 15s lid, Tho amoutv collected wa« only £B7 6s 6d. During thyear the committee had under considernt'o--the question of painting hall and manse ° U j u m6ra,,in ? electric light in church and hall, and erection of conveniences at the rear of the church. This wort Ind been completed, tho amount expended to data being £137 12s. To meet he .xpe.id ture the, managers had to arrange for a loan of £l5O for three years. Mr R. Wilson, in moving the adoption o' the Management Committee’s report, raid that the church’s finances and -h- wh->i-circumstances of ‘he church were in a most satisfactory, position, and everything pointed to the fact that in the coming vear they would make really sub-, an • u •,* ...
