BOWLING.

DUNEDIN CENTRE. The monthly meeting held last night was attended by Mr J. Abbott (chairman), Messrs A. F. Alien, D. M. Tastier, A. I. Peters, W. Wright, A. Stoneham, D. RO- - J. IT. Mathoson, J. Cr, Dempster* and W. G. Fay. Messrs C. Russell Smith and J. J. Mar* low, two Dunedin representatives who attended the recent annual meeting of council, were present and gave interesting accounts of the proceedings. They were most hospitably entertained, the Wellington men doing all they could to make the visitors enjoy themselves. There was the oest of feeling among all concerned, and careful consideration was given to the different matters brought under their notice. Concerning the two-foet-on-mat rule, a letter was received from Mr J. J. Roberts, council secretary, stating that at the annnal meeting of council it had been resolved—“ That centres bo requested to write clubs asking them to instruct theii? members to observe the rule relating to this matter, and that clubs he asked to provide regulation mats for all games.”— It was decided to call upon clubs to enforce the rule as far as possible. In reply to a question from the council asking for a report on the result of tho present system of bowl-testing, it was resolved to state that tho Dunedin Centro were of opinion that general satisfaction obtained in this district. It was decided that the Christmas Doubles tournament be started on Monday and continued on Tuesday, December 2S and 26. It was-suggested that two full days’ play bo allowed (four games a day), finals to be decided afterwards; but eventually it was decided to refer the matter of conditions to a sub-committee. Messrs J. Abbott, J. R. Glover, and J. G. Dcmp-t -tor were appointed tho sub-committee, to report as soon as possible. It was resolved to start match play on Saturday, November 4. The sub-commit-tee in charge appointed were Messrs Abbott, Glover, Dempster, and Allen, who are to supervise the drawing of fixtures and issue tho booklet of details.
