FATAL INJURIES
DEATH AT CHRISTCHURCH. John Finlay, residing at 23 Cashel street, Christchurch! was admitted to_ the hospital late on Friday evening suffering from mjuries to the skull, and he died there nn Saturday morning. Prior to ad miss nn to the hospital he was attended by Dr Anderson. Deceased was 36 years of age and married, his wife being in Blenheim. He was a son of Mr Charles Finlay, a retired farmer, of Timarn. Finlay was working at the International Harvester Company, Christchurch. At the inquest Mr W. T. Bennett, marine engineer, said the deceased was brought to Dunedin Lodge, Cashel street, at 10.15 p.m. on Wednesday. He was then semi-conscious. He complained that a man had struck him on the jaw. He also said : “ was a dirty dog to kick me.” He had a bruise at the back ol the car. Ho was taken to the hospital on Friday night. The inquest was, adjourned pending inquiries by the police.
