The shortage in the 21st Reinforcements is assuming substantial proportions owing to the failure of j-arge number* of regigj Ur*d man to answer tbs mobilisation, call. Districts will require to mak a bi • effort in order to provide the additional men required by Tuesday next, when supp.cmei’iaiy drafts enter the camp. The Wellington military district has a shortage of 505 men, and the Auckland draft, which reached camp to-day, a shortage of sometliing like 100 men- Preliminary reports

Indicate that the South. Canterbury, West land, and Otago men will oome into camp below their strength. The recruiting authorities are' asking district committees to make special efforts to secure the required number of men by Monday, in order tbat the 21st Reinforcement® may be brought up to their full strength on 'Tuesday. Additional infantry recruits are wanted in all districts where shortages have been reported, unless the men already registered will come forward.
