COURSING ASSOCIATION

A meeting of the council of the National Coursing Association of New Zealand was held last evening, and attended by Messrs B S. Irwin (chairman), H. Andrews, F. Carter, F. Foster, T. Lee, J. Ronald, AAL Millier, and AV. Everest. 1 —Correspondence.— Tire judge of the recent Waterloo Cup wrote protesting against the .association’s finding regarding the withdrawal of Katipo from the third round of the Cup.— Letter referred to the Hamilton Coursing Club.. The Secretary of the Hamilton Coursing Club wrote stating that Maori Chief was withdrawn from <ho Waterloo Purse by .permiffirm of the club stewards, who coh s.dered the dog in an unfit state. Applications were received from the Wanganui and New Plymouth Clubs for control of next year’s Waterloo.—Resolved to grant New Plymouth Chib tho fixture 1 hey guarantee £IOO to the winner. The council agreed to donate a silver cup. Air Wellington wrote complaining that tho Wanganui Coursing Chili had failed to pay to him part of the stake won by hi.s dog at the club’s last meeting.—Decided to request an explanation from the club.

The Registration Committee reported that two unregistered dogs competed at Wanganui and three at Southland.—Resolved that the owners be advised that if registrations are not effected within seven days from date the owners will be fined and disqualification be imposed. Air _J. Simmons appeared before the council, and was nucstinned as to the suggestion chat Lucky Bill (an unregistered which ran at the last Invercargill meeting, was identical with Speckled Band.—Air Simmons’s explanation was not considered conclusive, and the inquiry was further adjourned until the 27th inst., in ouler to give Mr Simmons a. further opportunity of calling evidence if he desired to do so.
