OTAGO ANGLERS
The thirty-fourth annual meeting of tho Otago. Anglers' Association was held last night in Farley's! Hall, and attended bv 28 members. Mr R. C. Fraser presided." The report, already published, was taken as road, and discussion was invited.
Mr A. J'.'. Jenkins' (secretary) said there was a paragraph so far not published, to the effect tnat the Milton anglers secured fair baskets in the lower part of the river, but were confident that much better sport would result if the poaching by netting could be effectively dealt with." In this connection it was the duty of every -member to support the Acclimatisation Society in their efforts to have the netting at present permitted on the lower parts of the Shag and Waikouaiti Rivers prohibited. Mr Jenkins added that it was well known that large numbers of trout used to be taken for years at the mouth of the Waikouaiti. Mr W. Pattison said that the Waikouaiti- used to be a. splendid river for fishing, but as netting is now allowed up to the bridge the fash were small. He thought the Waitati should remain as it is, but the netting should bo stopped at the mouth of the Waikouaiti. Mr R. S. Allan expressed the opinion that if there was tajbc any netting at all in the Waikouaiti it would, be better to allow it at the mouth of the river than further up. Mr W T . Pattison moved and Mr D. M'Lennan seconded that the report he and this'was carried. Mr W.
