A sitting of the Mcegiel Court was held yesterday before Mr Widdowson, £.M. For riding bicvcles after sunset without a light the following were fined 5s each and court costs :—Peter Gordon, Robert Vincent, Henry Guy, Henry Muntz, Edwin Jago, Hichard Pcdds, Hubert Walker, Win, Higgins, Allan Soufcer, Jas. Smellie, Malcolm Hendry, Alfred Stevenson, Win. Low, James White, and David" Hanlin.—Harry Clearwater, employed driving a motor ca,r for Mr Hugh Boyd, North Taieri, was fined 20s and costs (7a) for not observing the railway by-lav. - , which requires drivers to stop at Tailway crossings and see if any train is approaching. The action was in respect of the Gordon road crossing, and a serious accident was narrowly averted.—Hugh Gamble was fined 10s and costs (7s) on each of two charges of failing' to send his child to school.—The Defence Department proceeded against Howlett Havelock Kennedy, George Rutliven, Andrew Elliott, and Rowland Hitchon for not attending drills; but the cases were withdrawn.
