FAILING TO REGISTER
SHORT SHRIFT FOR SHIRKERS. FOURTEEN DAYS' GRACE. [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 8. In the House of Representatives this forenoon. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. G. W. Russell) read a report on the National Register, which showod that only 3,C00 persons out of 303,000 had failed to register. These persons now came under the Military Service Act, and would bo given 14 days in which to register.
