PICTURE ENTERTAINMENTS

GRAND. A further chapter in the exciting ' Blade Box' serial film is disclosed in the current programme at the Grand Picture Palace. The escape of the alleged thief of ths pearls while awaiting transportation to America is the chief event in a series of exciting incidents. A Kalem drama, entitled ' The Man in the Vault,' is a par-' ticularly good attraction. The story concerns the reform of the son of a cracksman. The son has tho chance of leading a better life, and determines to do so; but he has no sooner started out to play the new game when circumstances compel him to defy the law in order to assure the escape of his father. He has, in fact, to risk the enmity and suspicion of his future father-in-law. His father, however, seeing what is at stake, makes a clean breast of the whole affair, and saves the situation. 'The Lady of the G.P.O.' (Gaumout comedy), ' The Parks of Paris' (scenic), and ' The Ambassador's Disappearance' (Vita drama featuring Earle Williams and Maurice Costello) are capital films in a really excellent programme. A drama entitled ' The Mysterious Man fTom the Jungle' and a comedy featuring Billy Reeves are the main attractions at the King Edward. The 'Juggernaut' film is proving a powerful trump card in the hands of the management at the Octagon. It will be shown again to-night. 'Souls Aflame' has proved a strong attraction at the Plaza. It will be screened till the end of the week, together with some excellent supports. At Everybody's Theatre the exciting story _' The Cub' is the chief film, with a Chaplin comedy and an Anzac picture as good supports.
