INFANTILE PARALYSIS
Eight cases of infantile paralysis and one death from tho disease were notified from the country districts of the Anckland_ health district yesterday. The epidemic has apparently died out in the citv and suburbs. Another case of infantile paralysis was reported from South Canterbury on Tuesday, the patient being a girl five years of a, r zf».
Tho totn.l number of cases reported in tho Hawko's Bay district to dale (savs the ' Herald' of Monday) is 38, nine of which terminated fatallv.
Numbers of elderly men and cripples who act as " knockers-up :1 for the working: classes in Manchester and surrounding districis threaten to strike unless they arc paid increased fees for their services. They ask for an increase of from 3d ta 'ld per week.
