HARRIERS

DUNEDIN CLUB. The seventeenth annual* meeting of the Dunedin Harrier Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, Mr P. Romeril, club captain, in the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, the chairman congratulating the members on the. position of tho club. Considering the number away at the front, the attendance during tho past season had been very good, eight members qualifying for attendance badges. Special reference was made to the late Mr A. E. Bonnin, who has given his life for his country. The members all expressed regret at his loss. He held tho office of -secretary for some years, and it was largely owing to his untiring efforts that the chip are in ’such a flourishing condition to-day. Mr J. Swanson, who is leaving for the front, was congratulated by the chairman on the stop he had taken, and all present joined in extending best wishes for his safe return.

Discussing racing, it was decided not to hold senior events this season, hut that special encouragement be given to those under military ago. The chairman reported that a number of members at the front had written telling of the great benefit their harrier training had been to them. It was left to the committee to confer with other clubs to make .arrangements as regards holding combined runs during the season. The thanks of the club, were accorded the following for donations, etc.: —Messrs \Y. If. Edmond,.A. Stewart, Lee Smith, J. It. Glendining, J; Swanson, Mr apd Mrs M’Robie; for use of grounds, the Dunedin Jockey Club; for use of room, the Y.M.C.A.; and the Press.

The election of officers resulted us follows; —President; ■Mr A. Cannon ; vice-presidents —Messrs W. E. Edpicnd, A. Stewart, J, R. Glendining, and H. W. Johnston; captain, F. Zaffer; deputy, R. Dunne; secretary, R. Rosevear; treasurer, G. Thomson; auditors, Messrs Melville'and Cannon; delegate to centre, P. Harrison; committee—Messrs Homeril, West, Morrison, Bloy, Lynn, and Currie.
