Intercessions for thcso at the front from JSTew Zealand were held at St. Paul's Cathedral yesterday. Holy communion was said at 8, at which there were 54 communicants, the names of those who belonged to St. Paul's, to the number of 50, ibeing read aloud from the altar at 8 and 11, and from the reading desk at 6.30. At 11 the Primate celebrated, and the Rev. E. It. Xevill jn'eachcd. The preacher, speaking from Psalm 107, v. 14, said that the people of New Zealand had given "of their best, their youth, all that was manly and unselfish, for the sake of peace; they had gone through darkness and the shadow of death, and they believed that God would ere long break their bonds in sunder and give them peace; but that a botched-up, immoral bargain simply to avoid any more sacrifices would bo no peace at all, but would bnnff nothing but further wars afterwards. The communion service was ' Tours in C,' the Lord's Prayer and the 'Gloria in ExcelsiV being beautifully and sympathetically sung by the choir. Mr E. Heywood presided at the organ. Tho number of communicants was 108 at both services. , In tho evening there were special intercessions, and the Rev. Q. H. Statham was the preacher. Mr Statham said that our Empire was founded on the Bibla and faith in God. Sometimes he felt that people in New Zealand scarcely realised the war—in the words of tho anthem, nothing to you, all ye that pass by?" Everyone who could go ought to reply: "Here am I, send me." The preacher asked why did not every Anglican come to church to pray, not for peace at any prico, but for a righteous peace?
