CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOR
ANN UAL CONVENTION. The Dunodin and District Christian Endeavor Union held their annual convention in St. Andrew’s Sunday School Hall on September 21, the Key. 11. B. Gray presiding. The Rev. H. B. Gray gave a, stirring address on Christian Endeavor work. He emphasised the wealth of a society connected with a church. The Rev. Air. Gray then vacated the chair, and introduced the newly-elected president, Rev. P. T. Read, who thanked the societies for the honor they had conferred upon Mm. He realised the responsibility of endeavor work, and was ready to do all in bis power to keep up the strength of the societies. The Rev. Air Jenkins also spoke, his subject being ‘ Consecration.’ He dealt with individual members and their consecrated lives. He referred to the power of a consecrated life among Christians, where the influence of the life spreads and makes the surroundings helpful. The roll call was a special feature of the gathering, and many of the societies responded.
The hon. secretary (Mr T. M'Gregor) read, the annual report. Which emphasised the fact of good work accomplished during the year. °
The hon. treasurer (Mr Hiett) reported, the very satisfactory position of the finances.
The new officers were Installed as follows:—President, Rev. F. T. Read; vicepresidents— Revs-G. H. Balfour, Marshall, and Mr Hiett; correspondence secretary, Miss Manson; recording hon. secretary, Mr T. M’Gregor; hon. treasurer, Mr Hiett.
During the evening soles and duets were rendered iby Messrs Millar and Hiett (duets) and Miss Blackburn (solo). The union tender their kind thanks to the officers o£ St. Andrew’s Church for the use of their Sunday School Hall in which to hold this meeting.
