The regular month]}" meeting of the South Otago District and Degree Lodge -eras held-at. the 1.0.0. F. Hail, Albany 6treet, on Thursday last. Among those assembled under the presidency of the D.D.O.M; ,'P.ro. H. H. Johnson) were P.G.M.s Miller and Valentine and P.D.D.G.M. Swinton. "Protests against tho present unfair methods of administering the National Provident Fund were received from several ledges. Bio. Campbell reported that at the,recent meeting of the Friendly Societies' Council a similar protest was unanimously'adopted. It was announced that Bto. W. C. Campbell. P.D.M., had been installed as president of the Friendly Societies' Council, and Bro. Campbell was accorded the hearty congratulations of tho meeting, it being the feeling of the members that the honor was well deserved. A committee consisting of Bros. M'Arthur, Johnson, and Wilkinson was appointed to revise and consolidate the rules governing the initiatory competitions. The sseretary announced that Pioneer, Leith, TJnity, "Linden, and Maori Hill Lodges had entered the competition for this term. A letter from the secretary of Pioneer Lodge announced that the Rev. Bro. Petrie would at the next meeting'of Pioneer Lodge deliver a short address on ' Socialism, Past, Present, and Future, Considered in Its Relation to the Fraternal Teachings of the 1.0.0.F.' It was decided to reissue the ' Oddfellows' Handbook' in 11316. The question of the Oddfellows' picnic was considered, and the secretary was instructed to communicate with the lodges on the subject.
