SOLDIERS’ CLUB HOUSE
MR W. PATRICK’S GENEROUS DONATION. In furtherance of the suggestion made at the Otago High School Old Boys’ reunion that a soldiers’ club house should be established in the City a meeting was held yesterday, when a letter was read from Mr William Patrick and accompanied by a cheque for the amount which •he understood was required to purchase the late Dr Hocken’s property in Moray place. This information was received with enthusiasm. The property is a-quarter of an acre in extent, at the corner of Macandrew street and Moray place, facing north and east, and so gets the sun well. The house is one of 12_ large rooms, suitable for reading, smoking, and billiard room purposes. It is not intended to make it a residential dub, hut merely a place where soldiers can meet socially and enjoy fraternal comfort in a le’surely manner. Men on leave from Trentham will also be able to visit tne club and meet soldiers returned from the front. An appeal will .be made forthwith for subscriptions for furnishing and equipping the building. The club house will be open to all members.-of the. Expeditionary Forces free of charge.
