The meeting was resumed this morning Mr Israel in the chair.
Accounts amounting to £13,055 10s lOd were passed for payment. Resignations accepted; Margaret C. Carson, sole teacher, Maruakoa; Margaret MacLeod, sole teacher, Otokia; Thos. J. Morrow, second assistant, Balclutha ILH. : M. E. Davidson, first assistant, Moeraki; C. X. M'Leod. second assistant, Naseby; J. S. Fawcett, sole teacher, Earnscleugh; Flo. A. Henaghan. sole teacher, Xugget Point; Florence Shearer, assistant. Green Island. Appointments made: David White, sole teacher, Pounawea, vice K. Mooney, resigned ; Margaret E. Davidson, sixth, assistant, Green' Island, vice E. Gilbert, transferred; Margaret MacLeod, first assistant, East Taieri. vice J. Elder, resigned ; Alice G. Bodkin, sole teacher, Lauder, vice C. M'Lean, resigned; Joseph Fawcett, sole teacher, Oturehua, vice W. If. C. Sinclair, transferred; Florence A. Henaghan. sole teacher, new appointment, Mr John M. Ryan, truant officer, reported for the month ended the 9th in*t. Six convictions were obtained at Oamaro, two at Mosgiel, and four at Dunedin. E® had visited several of the city and suburban and Oamaru schools; and reported a decided improvement on the two previous months. The epidemic illness seemed to he abating considerably. The architect was asked to report on the application from Blue Spur for a new outhouse for the girls._ The application from Rongahere for repairs to playsheds, etc., is to bo reported on by the inspector. It was agreed to reconsider, later- on, the application from Maheno for a septic tank system. In May of this year application was made to the department for a grant of £541 10s for the erection of an additional room at Mosgiel District High School fertile accommodation of Standard YII. At to-day’s meeting the answer was read; thal> the Minister regrets his inability at present to provide funds, for the proposed enlargement. In any case, to attach a class roorh to a woodwork room, does not seem to be a desirable arrangement.—Resolved to inform the committee of the answer. St. Leonards asked that the interior of the school be painted.—Architect to report, Mr John Fraser’s tender of £4 10s was accepted for topping trees at Stirling. The board authorised the renewal and repairing of certain fencing at Forbury at a cost of £55. The rest of the business was taken in committee.
