BULAIR NECK.
ENEMY FEAR ATTACK.
AMSTERDAM, September 10. Turkish troops from the Caucasus have arrived at Bulair. The German and Turkish commanders regard this as a critical point, which they fear the Allies may sooner or later capture, thus cutting off the armies of Gallipoli.
TURKEY'S INTERNAL CHAOS.
PARIS, September 10. There is increasing discontent amongst the officials at Constantinople. Ihe Sheikh-ul-lslam and the Minister of Pious Foundations (Hairi Effendi) have resigned. The Prefect of Stamboul, under threat of death, was compelled to withdraw his resignation, tendered because he disapproved of the corrupt use of £300,000, the proceeds of the forced sale of goods commandeered from Gieek merchants. A Corfu telegram states that after 35 insurgents had been executed at Durazzo (Albania). Enver Pasha, yielding to tho prayers of his wife, spared the Lives of 50 other rebels. After hanging the rebel leader Hazzi Kiamil, the executioner dragged his body through the streets. ARMENIAN MASSACRES. LONDON, September.9. The ' Daily- Telegraph's' Mitylene correspondent furnishes horrible details proving the Turkish fixed policy of exterminating, the Armenian population.' In a village of 2,000 homes, exclusively Armenian, the inhabitants-' were exterminated with diabolical cruelty. A squad of gendarmes was first sent ,to order the inhabitants to evacuate their homes, but the Armenians remained. Two hundred 6oldiers followed to compel obedience. The Armenians resisted, fought, and defeated the soldiers, who fled. Five battalions next arrived, with machine guns. They established a cordon round tho village and sent in incendiaries with torches. The buildings, were soon afire, in a brisk breeze, and the miserable : inhabitants—men, women, and children—were burnt alive, those endeavoring to escape being ehot. Only four escaped. " : _ The Turkish "methods throughout ,the Tillages are—separating the men, compelling tho young to -fight, selling the young-women to the harems, and sending the old men, women, and children to the uninhabited, interior, where they are left ,to slow death "from hunger and exposure. THE SUBMARINE BLOCKADE. A WEEK'S RECORD. _ LONDON, September 9. There were 1,438 sailings and arrivals for the week. Ten merchantmen, totalling 37,826 tons, were sunk, and also four fishing boats. WOLF BLAMES THE LAMB. WASHINGTON. September 10. Germany's Note regarding the Arabic has been received. It contends, that the steamer changed her course, causing the submarine to torpedo her. DUMBA IN DISGRACE. , f LONDON, September 10. Renter's Washington correspondent states that the Government have requested Austria to recall her Ambassador, owing to' his propaganda to inaugurate strikes in American ammunition factories.
