ANGELS AT MONS.
XO THE EDITOR, was rather surprised to find in tnis enlightened and scientific ago that the above incident is gravel}'- related and believed _ m -.' It is fully vouched for bv several witnesses of repute and standing In the Middle Ages such an occurrence would have been proclaimed far and wide as -a. miracle. Let us examine the facte ot the case. A few soldiers are said to nave seen these angels, and aro saved 10m the Germans by their appearance, t u o facts at once impress themselves upon us when reading the account. The first is,
why does .the account not mention the time that the angels ■wet© seen? It is most important to know- if it was at night or day. Tho second is, why was not the incidentreported- sooner? It is nearly a year since the English were- at Mens and the vision seen. I arsume that the incident occurred at night; because had it been daylight thousands would have -witnessed the marvel, and we should have heard about it before this. Suppose that they were seen. In this age of picture shows such sights could he easily manufactured. Smoke or mist cloud - would, form a good screen .to throw such pictures on, and anyone with a strong light and a slide or two could produce the angels.—l am, etc., A.E'.B. August 25.
