RETURN OF A "DEAD" SOLDIER.

After being mourned as dead by his parents for three and a-half months, a. British .soldier has arrived in England. He is Gunner William Towers, of the 123 rd Battery. R.F.A.. and his death at Le Gateau on August 26 was reported to his parents at Clu-rUsey (Surrey)' by the War Office early in November. His commanding | officer confirmed the news, and gave such specific details as " lie was doing gun-lay-ing when killed." Recently, however, the parents Mere overjoyed, at receiving a telegram from their son stating that he had reached England with the exchanged wounded prisoners of war. Towers had certainly been badly wounded. His right leg was practically shattered, and. afterwards amputated; the left leg had 16 shrapnel wounds ; both arms were injured, and there were other wounds, in the chest and. face ; but ho is far from being dead. ~.c relates that he wrote quite 20 letters from Germany, but not one reached its intended destination.
