STOLEN DRUMS OF OIL

FOUND IN A CEILING. [Per United P/u-'.sb Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, March 27. During the stay of the steamer Tainui at- Lyttoltcm a number of drums of oil disappeared- Yesterday the police visited the premises of Rudolph Anderson, a saihnaker and a well-known resident. He denied all knowledge, and tho search seemed hopeless until tho police discovered an aperture in the ceiling, inside of which were 11 of the drums. The police subsequently arrested Robert Hempstalk and Thomas Jones and charged them with the theft of the drums, Anderson being charged with receiving tho stolen property. Thov were remanded till Wednesday:
