TOWN PLANNING
THE NEW SOCIETY. The final meeting of the original Town Planning Committee was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Town Hall, His Worship the Mayo.- piesiciing. The steps "which had been taken by the executive to form a town planning branch ■>f the Reserves Society were fully ex, plained to the meeting, and were unanimously agreed to. The Reeerves Society are now known as the Amenities and Town Planning ttocieh, and are to include a bra .ma which will devote its attention to all phases of town planning, especially in the way of local needs and possibilities. Regular winter meetings are to be held, and iKipers read and discussed. It- is hoped'that the results ot these means will be beneficial to the town and suburbs. Beforo the conclusion of the meeting Mr J. L. S.-ilmond proposed a. hearty vote of fhanki to the inn. i-ecKdary (Mr Basil Hooner), who had given such a large amount of hi- time to the work of the committee and the good of town planning. A public meeting will be convened by advertisement shortly ot all those, interested in the subject, when it is hoped a siron-- and healthy branch will be formed, which will elect its own officers and formulate a syllabus immediately.
