Mr Albert M. Harks, chairman of dir«* tors of Hancock and Co., brewers, Auofe. land, who was at one time a resident of Wellington, died last week in London, where ho lias lived for many years. Mr Marks is a brother of Mr GeoTge Marlow, the well-known theatrical manager.
Prior to the departure of the troop* on Tuesday last some of his Port Chalmers Rowing Club comrades presented/ Colonel Bauchop with a serviceable -wristJet watch. The presentation was made by Mr F. W. Platts (president of tho Otago Rowing Association). The colonel expressed his appreciation of the affection of his old rowing friends, and wished' the club every success. At a meeting of the Dunedin Technical School managers, held yesterday afternoon, the chairman reported that by the courtesy,of the Art Gallery trustees they had been privileged to receive the ' oil painting of Mr Alexander Burt. Thi* painting is tho work of Miss M. A* Park, and was presented by the em< ployees at the jubilee ceremony of A* and T. Burt, Ltd., held in the Garrison Hall on August 16, 1912. The managers, by a unanimous vote, decided to thank the Art Gallery trustees for the gift, and arrangements are being made to havg same hung in a suitable room in thrcollege.
