RE MORNINGTON AFFAIRS.

TO THE KDITOP.. Sir, —The nomination of John Thompson for Third Ward has been declared invalid on the borough "solicitor's advice, obtained by t,he town clerk. The nominators were S*. Dickson and myself. Rather a peculiar position arises, however, and it would ba interesting to ascertain the views of the electors on the procedure adopted. It will be remembered that some weeks ago Mr K. Birt was declared elected for _ Third Ward, he being the only person nominated. His nominators were the sanie as for John 'Thompson, yet no exception whatever was taken. Why, the electors may well ask, is the "present nomination declared invalid? The wholo matter rests on a. technical point. Why did the town clerk accept the nomination? I wa« a resident of Third Ward when the nomination was signed, although being a ratepayer in First Ward. 1 have been given to understand that there are also two members of the council concerned in the matter. If the procedure adopted was necessary it is rather a pity that everything pertaining to tile borough is net managed on the same pin-point system. Then we would not have the bank putting a stop to our credit. V<?rb sap. I am calling a public meeting for Monday night, in the Presbyterian Church Hall, and ivur-b that the ratepayers will attend in large, numbers. 1 will then place everything pertaining to the borough before them—l am, etc., T. K. MOODY. September 2A
