In the Magistrate's Court at Wellington yesterday Horace Arthur Oramond, formerly manager for Cook's Tourist Agency there, appeared to answer eight _ charges of embezzlement, the total sum involved being £1,455 2s Bd. It was alleged that Cramond received moneys in the course ot the firm's business, and did not account for them in the usual manner; also that he drew cheques in the. firm's name ami cashed them, the butts of the cheque forms not being filled in. The accused reserved his defence, and was committed for trial. Bail was allowed.
