At the river tragedy inquest, the- members of tho party testified that all the party were perfectly sober. Sir Denis Alison exhibited youthful vivacity, and was larking about. Ho climbed upon and walked along the awning rail, the captain compelling him to descend.' Aneon then mounted a seat, dived into the river, and swam towards the shore. The party heard him shouting " Quickly ! Quickly!" and Mr Mitchell, a member of tho orchestra, attempted a rescue. He disappeared in the strong current. The. jury were satisfied that 'Anson was sober.
The party included Lady Diana Manners and Miss Nancy Cunard. Counsel announced that the late Sir Denis. Anson's familv were, providing for Mitchell's widow and child.
