Addressing a meeting of united suffragisfcsv Mrs Pethkk-Lawrence explained that she left the Women's Political Union because Mrs Pankhtixst could not brook a rival. The Women's Political Union had completely altered their plana during her (Mrs Pethick-Lawrence's) absence in America, and they had found it necessary, in view of their militant policy, to vest the control and finance of the union in the hands of a sole leader, directing the movement from Paris. [Mr and Mrs Pethick-Lawrence have spent much money and suffered hardships for their devotion to the cause of woman's suffrage. Miss Chxistabel Pankhurst direct* the militants from -Paris.]
MRS PANKHURST RESUMES. ATTEMPT TO DESTROY BURNS'S BIRTHPLACE. "LONDON, July 8. (Received July 9, at 9.35 a.m.) Mrs Pankhurst resumed her duties at the militant headquarters at Kingsway. She was immediately rearrested. Two suffragettes at daybreak attempted to blow up Burns's birthplace. The watchman discovered them placing large bombs against the building. He captured one, but the other escaped.
