"LONDON, July 7. {Received July 8, at 8.50 a.m.) Mr Herbert Samuel presided, and Prince Arthur of Connaught unveiled Brocks’ Statue of Captain Cook on * The Mall.’ Prince Louis of Battenburg, Air Churchill, Sir George Reid, and the Hon. T. Mackenzie were among those present. MB MACKENZIE’S COAIPARISON. LONDON, July 7. (Received July 8, at 10.25 a.m.) Rushall's Cadets were - present at the unveiling of Captain Cook’s statue, also the Agents-General and a number of prominent colonials. The Hon. T. Mackenzie said that New Zealand’s loftiest peak (Mount Cook) was the everlasting memorial to Captain Cook's work. New Zealand’s external trade was now equal tp the total import and export trade of Great Britain, Germany, and France at the time of Captain Cook’s visit.
Sir G. Reid eulogised Australia’s debt to Captain Cook.
