THE ORPHANS' CLUB
Brother S. t i Osborn > presided over last night's meeting of tie Dunedin Orphans' Club, and spoke truh when he said that the programme ?uh mined on that occasion was right up I-, that high standard which the dub's pro grammes had attained. The leading fea ture was the performance of the Kaikonr Band, who turned out- in force under M i J. B. Laidlaw. and rendered several exec! lent items, chief amongst which were ‘Tim Passing of Salome’ and a selection of Lauder songs. A special vote of thanks was tendered the band for their efforts. Other items—all good—were : Songs by Bros. Wright, Black, Sligo, Gray, Waters ; recitations by Bros. M'Kechnie, Slyfield. Harding, and Savage Henderson i'Timarul : duet by Bros. M'Kenzie and Crawford. The chairman mentioned that a party from the club intended shortly to visit the Savage Club in Timaru, and based a promise of a hearty welcome and a, “real good time” on past experience. During the evening the prizes won in connection with the dub’s “ Hard-up ” night were presented by the chairman, the recipients being Bros. J. Best, H. M'Kedmie, and G. A. Wycherley. A most enjoyable evening was brought to a conclusion by the singing of the "dosing ode.”
