At & largely-attended meeting oi bopgrowers at Motueka and Wakefield on Saturday the Licensing Bill was discussed. It was shown that the present value of the hops produced in the Nelson province .us about *BBO,OOO per annum, of which £12,000 is paid for picking, while other industries benefit directly and indirectly from hop-growing. The whole of this money represented outside capital, and in the event of National Prohibition being carried the demand for -hops would ho heavily reduced. At both meetings' resolutions were carried urging the Government to consider the interests of the hopgrowers, and protesting against a reduction in the majority required to cany National Prohibition. Delegates were appointed a combined deputation to place the hopgrowers' view before the Prime Minister.
