The death occurred at CJaudeland.s (Auckland) recently of Mr Frank A. Quick. When gold was discovered in Otago he and his brother George came across from Australia and entered into the coaching trade between Dunedin and the Dunstan. In the early sixties they went to Auckland. Mr W. J. M'Kay has been appointed senior despatch clerk in the local telegraph office. An Auckland wire reports the death of the Rev. Charles Carter, formerly Baptist missionary to Ceylon, aped 86. He translated the Bible in Cingalese and compiled an English Cingalese dictionary.
