ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
At Auckland on Satnrd-iy W. Cowdry, a, fourth grade Rugby football player, had his leg broken. An inquest was held at Lyttelton _on Saturday touching the death of William Bootland, who was found hanging from a tree over the old quarry on the hilltops, near Rapaki. The coroner returned a verdict that the man committed suicide by hanging. John Hellier. a well-known farmer at Croydon, died suddenly while sitting in a chair this morning. He leaves a widow and six children. He had been 40 years a colonist, and had lived for 33 years in the Gore district.—Gore P.A. message. A Rotorua telegram states that Parata Brown, a half-caste, acred 21, from Omaha, north of Auckland, fell into a hot pool at Ohinemutu about midnight on Saturday, dying short.lv afterwards. Francis Mason, a woolclasser, met with a nasty accident while on his way home. in Macandrew road, on Saturday night. He slipped on the kerbstone near his residence and fractured his left leg just above the ankle. He was conveyed to the Hospital, where ho is now progressing favorably.
