(Received June 12, at 8.50 a.m.) The General Federation of Women's Oubs at Chicago advocated dresa reforms, and at the annual convention the speakers demanded that women should wear dresses large enough to walk in without inconvenience. Jt was stated that thousands of women ■were ready to dress in a ease manner if. tha manufacturers would allow_ them. The shopgirl really made the fashions for society women. When they were asked for the very la-test fashions shopgirls al ■ways brought forward their own ideas of the latest fashions, and customers accordingly adopted them. If manufacturers assisted in reform it could be easily effected. Mrs Grace Hutcbins (costume designer for Columbia University) asserted that nowhere in the world had she seen sad; overdressing as in the United States The "hobble" was the supreme effort of French manufacturers to secure the sillr trade in French hands. The speakei declared that every woman who wore immoral clothes was not necessarily immoral ; they were, however, thoughtless to an abnormal degree.
