AUCKLAND EXHIBITION
A SUBSTANTIAL PROFIT. The financial result of Auckland Exhibition was disclosed at a meeting of the Finance Committee of the Exhibition Executive yesterday. Tt. is understood that a profit of over '£2o 000 was reported. This includes a sum of between £7,000 and £B,OOO, which ■was expended in converting the grounds of the outer domain into attractive pardens, another sum of £1,500, representing the value of the permanent kiosk which was erected with materials given by leading citizens, and a further item of £I,OOO, being the value of the fairy fountain, which formed one of the Jeading outdoor attractions at the Exhibition, and which is to be left as a permanent adornment of the Domain Gardens. The promoters, decided in the early stages of the movement that any profit accruing from the Exhibition should be utilised for the beautification of the Domain grounds, and it was this decision which influenced them in evolving such an attractive garden scheme for the Exhibition season. The terraces, lawns, and flower beds resulting from this scheme have already been handed over to the care of the city landscape gardener, and ifc is understood that the remainder of. the sum on the profit side of the ledger is to be expended in accordance with the scheme authorised by the Exhibition Executive.
