Recently a young man named Herbert Walter M'Orea* Bull appeared before the Auckland Police Court on a series of charges of having victimised a number of persons round about Auckland to the extent of £lO, which he had extracted in sums varying from 10s to 22s 6d, by means of some pitiful tale, in the recounting of which his victims said he was a pastmaster. P»ull admitted the offences, and sentence was deferred pending the taking of the charges of forgery upon which he had to come Before the Supreme Court. On these charges the Judge sentenced him to one year's reformative treatment. Yesterday Bull, appeared before Mr Frazer, SAL, who remarked that, there were so many charges, 13 in all. that he could not pass' the case over by allowing the Supreme Court sentence, upon t,he, forgery charges to stand by itself. His Worship ordered Bull to be ‘detained for reformative treatment. for a- period of two years, the term to be concurrent with that of the Supreme Court sentence, so far as the first year was concerned.
