The New Zealand Rugby Union are introducing an innovation this year, having decided to play two interisland matches at Wellington. The team to tour New South Wales and Queensland will be selected from the four competing teams at the conclusion of the interisland matches. Messrs H. Harris (Otago), S. Wilson (Canterbury), and C. Hassell (South Canterbury) have nicked the following teams to represent the

Watson (Canterbury), H. Atkinson (Buller). Half-back :' C. Green (West Coast). Forwards : Front rank—E. Hassell (Canterbury), Best (Nelson); lock', F. Whita-, ker (Southland) ; supports—S. Blyth (West Coast), W. Cummings (Canterbury); back row —W. Maxwell (Canterbury), W. Callaghan (Buller) 5 wing, Nolan (Marlborough). —A Team (to play on Saturday, June 20). Full-back : D. Tho object of the two matches is to meet the complaint of country unions that they have not been receiving just recogni tion a.t the hands of the selectors. In order that they might see the country men at work, the selectors suggested the preliminary match. This will afford them better opportunities for judging the merits of tho players when selecting the team for Australia.
