CANADA AND ASIATICS

AN ANTI-ASIATIC BILL. . Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. "OTTAWA, June 8. (Received June 9, at 1 p.m.)\ Mr Stevens introduced his Anti-Asiatic Bill. He said that the objections to Asiatics in Western Canada were not likely to offend foreign countries, but the question was whether the line was to be drawn against the admission of Asiatics, or whether they should open the country to a flood of unassirnilable elements. Mr Stevens quoted Lord Curzon as saying that the common rights of British citizenship cannot override the rights of the Overseas Dominions to protect themselves. Mr Borden promised consideration of the Bill, but pointed out that the end of the session was near, and it was unlikely that facilities could be given for its passage.
