There was only a moderate attendance (•'the faithful tern," as the poem says| at Monday night *e meeting of the Loyal Valley Lodge, when N.G. Bro. M'Lauchlaa presided. ..T9»i& evening was mostly taken up with on the affarrs of the Frie»(^y*Sociefcie6 , Dispensary and its activities,J£lfo outcome of the report given by P«.u-s Bros. Moors and Wells of the meeting last week of the Dispensary Committee. The Hall Committee have ia hand, various schemes for the reduction of tile debt on the ball property, bad the secretary reported that the art unka tickets (now in the hands of the printer) would shortly be ready for issue. The N.G. requested a more encouraging attendance nest lodge night, when P.G. Bro. C. H. BusselJ would provide some Shakespearian items. Among the visitors were N.G. Bro Greenfield and V.G. Bro. Anderson (Albion) and Bro. W. Shepperd (Dunedin). N.G. Bro. F. W. Scott presided over Tuesday evening's meeting of the Loyal Centenary Lodge, held in their hall at CargilFa Comer. An official visit was received from the local lodge of Druids (Court Enterprise), who were cordially xeceived, and the greeting was as heartily reciprocated on their behalf by P.A.D. Bro. Steele. The visitors proved victors over the card tables by 19 games to 11. P.G. Bro. R. jVf'Connell gave an account -of the recent meeting of the Dispensary " Committee. It was decided to send a letter to the senior trustee (Bro. J. S. Sinclair) expressing the wish that his health might he completely restored as Lhe result of hk trip Home. The visitors' toast was acknowledged by Bros. S. G. Smith (Albion) and M'Lauchlan (Valley). Arrangements were made to entertain lady friends of the lodge at a social next meeting night. The meeting of the Loyai Caversham Lodge on Wednesday evening was, owing to the various activities of the day, bat poorly attended, and the opening was delayed until the mayoral election officials bad vacated the hall. N.G. Bro. R. Swinney presided, and the gaps caused by the absence of some officers at camp were filled by past officers. The business of the evening was very light. P.G. Bro. E. Soilness was appointed acting-treasurer (vice P.P.G.M. Bio. Lawry) until tho June summoned meeting. An invitation was received from the Koyal Oak Lodge, 0.A.0.D.. to a social evening at their pest meeting. P.G.& Bros. J. Kus&ell, . Scuness, and Cole made report of the recent dispensary meeting. N.G. Bro. Scotii (Centenary) was the only visitor, aud the :eoe» was devoted to quoits and
ha-rcnoaay. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Albion Lodge was held in the Rattray Street Haß last evening, -when the attendance wa» large. N.G. Bro. W. Greenfield presided, and the lodge opened in mourning owing to the death of Bro. J. W. Baxter. A travelling certificate was granted to a member who is visiting lodges in the ETorth Island. One candidate was initiated, P.G. Bro. Sullivan giving the principal lecture and P.G. Bro. Scott the instruction charge. The latter brother, on behalf of the five members who ran the card tonrnament last lodge night, presented Bro. Buckley (the ■winner) with a framed picture, and was modestly thanked. The mourning regalia was then removed, and the annual official visit of sister lodges took place. All the eity and suburban lodges •were well represented, the Dnnedin Lodge topping the noil with a large master. The following conveyed greetings :—N.G.s Bros. Scott (Centenary), Swinney (Caversham), Guild (Dnnedin), M'Lauchlan (Valley), Oliver (Hand and Heart), and G.M. Bro. Neil (Moagiel). P.G.M. Bro. A. W. Palmer and his four colleagues were also officially received, and «ocb briefly addre«ed the members. Befreshmentts -were banded round, and songs were given by Bros. Cameron, Cave, Jacobs, Moore, Frew, Bond, and M'Lauchlan, recitations by Bro. Longwerfch* and piano selections by Bro. Smith.
