SIR JOSEPH WARD
[Special to the Stae.]
ALEXANDRA, May 1
Sir Joseph and Lady Ward arrived hero last night, and left by train for Mosgiel to-day. In the evening Sir Joseph addressed a large meeting, despite short notice. He had a most enthusiastic reception, and made a telling, vigorous speech. At the conclusion Mr W. A. Bodkin moved—" 'That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Sir Joseph Ward for his address, and a vote of confidence in his leadership of the Liberal party, trusting that under his leadership the party will be returned to office at next election." MiThomas Adams seconded the motion. No amendment was proposed, and the expression of approval was carried on the voices. The Mayor (Mr Marslin) presided.
