[Special to the Stae.]

ALEXANDRA, May 1

Sir Joseph and Lady Ward arrived hero last night, and left by train for Mosgiel to-day. In the evening Sir Joseph addressed a large meeting, despite short notice. He had a most enthusiastic reception, and made a telling, vigorous speech. At the conclusion Mr W. A. Bodkin moved—" 'That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Sir Joseph Ward for his address, and a vote of confidence in his leadership of the Liberal party, trusting that under his leadership the party will be returned to office at next election."
