Mr Thomas, M.P., addressing a railwaymen’s meeting at Preston in support of a motion in favor of an eight-hour day and a minimum wage of»3oa a week, with a pro rata advance for those earning over that amount, said that the proposed amalgamation of all unions was not intended as a declaration of wax. It was merely an inevitable step in the development of Capital and Labor. The capitalist combination, reported last November, necessitated the concentration of the forces of Labor.
